Sweet Berry Farm

It is berry time in central Texas so we gathered up our 4 best 4 year olds and headed to Sweet Berry Farm for some picking! After the rains last night, we were prepared for muddy conditions but the grounds were dry and the strawberries were a plenty! Picnic, goat and horse petting, and 10 minutes on the trampoline, these girls were tired...moms too! Now I need to find some great recipes for all the loot we brought home.

And some AMAZING shots from my friend who has tons more camera experience than me! She did give me a mini-lesson that I plan to start working on.

Bluebonnets ~ 2012

As much as I love our Texas Bluebonnets and look forward to them each year...

...is it really worth this? Fran has been wheezing for a week now. After a treatment today, we are loading her with steroids for the next week. Even though the grass is green, the trees are full, and the flowers are gorgeous, I would rather have my healthy girl back. Don't let that sweet grin fool you, we have had a rough few days!

Kamp Knuff 2012

Another memorable Spring Break is over! Kamp Knuff was a success with 12 kids and 9 adults over a 5 day period.

The kids were not shy in turning a fishing trip at "Dead Cow Lake" into a swim break.

Saturday morning, all the kids participated in the first ever "San Gabriel St. Patty's Day Shuffle," a race around the lake with 9 muddy obstacles. They each received a green bandanna as their finishers medal.

After some swim time in the big lake we had an old fashion egg toss that quickly turned into a egg fight!

We all painted bird houses and hung them on a tree.

And sent the kids on an 'A-Z Farm Photo Scavenger Hunt' with their I Pods.

Now we have to get back in the groove of schedules and school until summer!

Our "Lorax" Day

The Lorax says it best..."Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It's not." ~Dr. Seuss, The Lorax and thus our first Spring Break 2012 adventure begins.

We headed downtown taking the Metro Rail from NW Austin with our cousins in hopes of exploring public transportation, seeing a few Dr. Seuss originals, and hanging with the cool crowd of SXSW.

The Rail was fun and uneventful but after waiting for over an hour for Bus 10 to take us to our first museum, we gave up and decided to walk to the second. We encountered some strange individuals and were lucky enough to snap a photo with the Blue Bread Guys (?). The kids witnessed Shoal Creek with running water (thank God for all the rain) and even saw a sign that they wanted to know if it was true or not...we did not stick around to find out.

After walking a tad less then 2 miles AND coming in the path of a guy with a handlebar mustache pedaling a pedicab that knew my name and where I grew up (turns out he was the little brother of a childhood friend and apparently I have not changed a bit in the last 25 years since he has seen me) we made it to Art on 5th for the largest gallery exhibition in the country focused on the art and life of Thedor Seuss Geisel, aka Dr. Seuss.

We returned to the downtown station, grabbed lunch, rode the Rail back to NW Austin and caught the 2:40 showing of The Lorax. Not a bad adventure for day 1.

Soccer Debut

Fran made her soccer debut this morning! For being the youngest on the team, she did great. She make contact with the ball a few times but decided it was more fun to "follow" the pack of kids and play with her pippy tails. Not to mention the tunnel at the end scared her just a tad. Oh well, 9 more games for her to learn how the sport goes.
