Our "Lorax" Day

The Lorax says it best..."Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It's not." ~Dr. Seuss, The Lorax and thus our first Spring Break 2012 adventure begins.

We headed downtown taking the Metro Rail from NW Austin with our cousins in hopes of exploring public transportation, seeing a few Dr. Seuss originals, and hanging with the cool crowd of SXSW.

The Rail was fun and uneventful but after waiting for over an hour for Bus 10 to take us to our first museum, we gave up and decided to walk to the second. We encountered some strange individuals and were lucky enough to snap a photo with the Blue Bread Guys (?). The kids witnessed Shoal Creek with running water (thank God for all the rain) and even saw a sign that they wanted to know if it was true or not...we did not stick around to find out.

After walking a tad less then 2 miles AND coming in the path of a guy with a handlebar mustache pedaling a pedicab that knew my name and where I grew up (turns out he was the little brother of a childhood friend and apparently I have not changed a bit in the last 25 years since he has seen me) we made it to Art on 5th for the largest gallery exhibition in the country focused on the art and life of Thedor Seuss Geisel, aka Dr. Seuss.

We returned to the downtown station, grabbed lunch, rode the Rail back to NW Austin and caught the 2:40 showing of The Lorax. Not a bad adventure for day 1.
