We kept our final adventure an indoor and dry one...Planes at the Austin's iconic Alamo Draft House! The kids were pretty fascinated with the "eat while you watch a movie" concept.

Celebrating Summer ~ Wednesday
Summer is not summer until we road trip to Ink's Lake to jump off the cliffs of Devil's Waterhole. And this year everyone jumped from the highest multiple times. Reward...a DQ blizzard!

Celebrating Summer ~ Tuesday
A quick trip downtown to the Shoal Creek bike trail before the summer sun heated up the city was our adventure today...and of course, we had to stop off at our favorite BMX park!
Even though 2 out of 3 fell on their first ramp, the dust was quickly brushed off and the bleeding areas were counted. Surprisingly, they got back on their bikes and had fun!

Celebrating Summer ~ Monday
The official countdown has started...one more week! It has been the "damned if I do, damned if I don't summer." I plan an outing, the kids want to stay home. I don't plan an outing, the kids want to leave due to extreme boredom. So today...stay home and play (plus a few chores of course)!!
I found the time to put together a few special deliveries for my dear friends...the ones with kinder-bound kids. Pick up a super cute box of tissues. Print out a tearjerker poem. Address. Mail.
I can't believe it myself...my baby is almost there!
First Day Of Kindergarten
by Author Unknown
She started school this morning,
And she seemed so very small.
As I walked there beside her
In the Kindergarten hall.
And as she took her place beside
the others in the class,
I realized how all too soon
Those first few years can pass.
Remembering, I saw her as
She first learned how to walk.
The words that we alone made out
When she began to talk.
This little girl so much absorbed
In learning how to write.
It seems as though she must have grown
To girlhood overnight.
My eyes were blurred by hastily
I brushed the tears away
Lest by some word or sign of mine
I mar her first big day
Oh how I longed to stay with her
And keep her by the hand
To lead her through the places
That she couldn't understand.
And something closely kin to fear
Was mingled with my pride.
I knew she would no longer be
A baby by my side.
But she must have her chances to live,
To work her problems out,
The privilege to grow and learn
What life is all about.
And I must share my little girl
With friends and work and play;
She's not a baby anymore --
She's in Kindergarten today.

They're Baaack!
Not sure if I am more impressed that my children caught these fish or that their father actually got them to hold them on their own for a picture. We are so happy the "fish catching dry spell" is over and the stats are back up to where they were in the early 80's!

The Secret Is Out!
What has ALWAYS been my favorite Saturday in August is slowing becoming over crowded. My intimate birthday balloon celebration is now enjoyed by hundreds. Now you not only have to beat sunrise, but the wait-in-line-for-a-parking-spot mile long turn lane.
The morning is still magical and the kids love it but we might have to start a new tradition next year :(
